About

Biography


Xiaowen started to play piano since she was four years old. She then studied piano at the primary and middle schools of the Central Conservatory of Music (CCOM) in Beijing with Aiping Jin and Danwen Wei before coming to study piano asan undergraduate at the Royal Academy of Music.


She has been studying with Aiping Jin and Danwen Wei for the past fourteen years from primary school to high school and studies currently with Joanna MacGregor at undergraduate level at the Royal Academy of Music.

Xiaowen has been awarded scholarships in the primary and middle schools of CCOM in Beijing and has been awarded a full entrance scholarship to the Royal Academy of Music in 2018. Xiaowen has performed in Beijing, New York, Los Angeles, London, St. Petersburg and Bucharest among other cities.

 

Performances Include


2012: Performance in the opening ceremony celebrating the 55th anniversary of the middle school of the Central Conservatory of Music (CCOM) in Beijing.
2017: Solo recital in Hebei, China.
Jul. 2017: Performance of Beethoven Piano Concerto No. 1 with the Virtuosi Brunenses Orchestra in Perugia, Italy.
Aug. 2018: Performance of Beethoven Piano Concerto No. 5 "Emperor" with Dartington Music Festival Orchestra as winner of the 2018 Dartington Music festival.
Mar. 2019: Performance in the recital series of Amazing Women of the Academy in the Angela Burgess Recital Hall, Royal Academy of Music, London.

 

Awards


2013: 2nd prize in group B of the 20th Romania "In Memory of Dinu Lipatti" International Piano Competition.
2014: 1st prize in teenager group of "In Memory of Shostakovich" International Piano Competition in St. Petersburg, Russia.
Oct. 2018: Highly Commended (3rd prize) in Lilian Davies Prize Competition in the Royal Academy of Music
Jan. 2019: 1st prize of Harriet Cohen Bach Prize Competition in the Royal Academy of Music.
